Community theaters at public libraries
Posted 12/15/2009 by sarossell in Movies | Submit idea in this category
To help bolster business at local city and county libraries, build small community theaters with sturdy stadium seating and sixteen foot projector screens where people can check out a DVD and then watch it right there. There could also be regularly scheduled cultural movie events when the library plays movie classics and educational titles. And people could "check out" the theater to have parties and even watch sporting events like Monday Night Football.

I love the idea, however I think that we will soon see the demise of libraries all together. With the Internet it's an old fashion concept. Same goes for newspapers.

There will always be less fortunate person with limited means who deserve the same ready access to the kind of materials a library provides. We can't all afford to simply buy books and movies as we wish. I do see your point in one respect - the libraries will have to re-think their strategies in order to remain a viable option. Hence, the theater idea.
