Quit Smoking Aid
Posted 07/04/2008 by nathan_phillips in Precautions and Preventions | Submit idea in this category
Someone should create an oral spray that would turn the taste of tobacco into something wretched. Before you all comment that tobacco tastes bad enough (i know, i know) but I'm talking about armpit sweat/fat man fart awfulness. That would definitely help me quit smoking.

Is this possible?

An old home remedy for helping children stop biting their nails is to spray deodorant on their fingers. One nibble and they pucker up instantly. Maybe something similar could be devised for cigarettes. Or...maybe just use deodorant. I mean, smoking is deadly enough. Would it really matter if someone smoked a cigarette with deodorant on it? (I will not be held responsible for anyone actually trying this without the proper research.)

What about a pill that you could take in the morning, would last 24 hours and has a reaction to nicotine that would make a person queezy or sick feeling. That way a smoker could take the pill in the AM, knowing that if they bend and sneak a cigarette, they'll suffer mild consequences.

It sounds at first as if you mean something that would be used after smoking which doesn't make sense.  One would quickly stop using it, but just keep smoking.  If used before hand, uh maybe, but again some people would quit using when they really wanted a hit.  Maybe a pill or something that you could take in the morning and would last for hours so that every time you lit up, it would taste awful.

Even though quitting is your main goal, what about just a spray that negates the tobacco smell. Like the standard breath spray, but geared solely to remove tobacco smell. Maybe a Fabreeze type of mist that people can spray on their clothes after smoking outside a bar that takes the smell out before returning would be a cool idea too. Obviously it would be small enough to keep in a purse or back pocket.
