How far can a Solar water-pump pump water anyway? Pound a metal pipe into the ground until you hit water. Drop a plastic tube connected to a solar water-pump down the pipe, and when the sun shines, the pump will activate, and the water will come up the tube and into any small holding tank for drinking or gardening.

Good in theory, but this presens a few problems. If you remove too much groundwater, subsidence occurs which is the deflating of the above surface, basically causing it to collapse. Of course this is in an extreme case where too much water is taken out. Also remember, groundwater is good for some ecosystems. I agree it's a good resource, but we shouldn't abuse it.

i think this is a good idea, but i agree with RexJB's statement. We need a way on how to effectively get water without overdoing it.
