It's a pretty basic concept using the connectivity of the internet with practical information searching. It also gives the power of information into the people's hands in an easy to enter and easy to use format.

The idea is to build a website where anyone can give information about companies and employers. Registered users will have to register their work experience along with other standard informatoin which will give them access to search and add information in a wiki and blog style. The main point is to give a realistic, personal view of companies and workplaces through the wiki style page while users can blog and comment their opinions about it. This will help people who are searching for jobs to get an accurate description of what it is like to work for the company. Since the information is provided by former and current employees of that company, it will give insight into the company culture, management style, work expectations/needs and advancement opportunities.

I believe this would be very helpful as job hunters can get a more realistic look at the day-to-day workings of a company and what it is like to be an employee there. It will also encourage the companies and their managers to stay honest with how they handle themselves.

It can be linked into social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook to reach large, key audiences quickly. The users will be able to register new companies and locations as they log in to use the system so it will be user built through their contributions with few moderators and staff to keep the system working and control issues such as personal attacks on people, spam, etc.

It's putting power into the people's hands where they never had it before and will help them in their decisions for finding a new job with information not usually available but crucial for employees to find an organization that is good for their wallet and their life.

You could consider promoting this idea in conjunction with the free web site yelp.com. Currently, Yelp is all about finding restaurants and other businesses. But it's already set up to accept comments and location details. One would just need to create a new entry for each business location like "Northrop Grumman - Spectrum, Ruffin Rd., San Diego, CA". Then employees could just add comments.

Sounds like a million dollar idea. Advertise, promote it, go round to job fairs and sign people up.  It could be the next wiki or myspace.
