Simple universal language
Posted 12/15/2009 by sarossell in Issues needing resolution | Submit idea in this category
Along the lines of Esperanto and Universal Phonetic Language, design a simple phonetic language that can be used for all languages with simple symbols and letters to represent any word. Once someone learns how to pronounce the letters with the appropriate symbols, they will be able to automatically speak any language written in this manner. For example, the sentence "I have had enough of trying to learn English" would be written as "I hav had enuf uv trieng tu lrn English." This editor does not allow for macrons, dots and bars that would be used to differentiate between the sounds of oo and ow and oe, so it's kind of tough to show the idea at it's fullest use. All languages could then be written phonetically and even intermixed. Spelling would no longer be a problem because it would be obvious based on the phonetic sound of the letters. And if you wanted to teach an specific accent, you would use the appropriate phonetic spelling like "Srit! E tow me wut e wontid an I gav it to em." (Cockney English for "That's right! He told me what he wanted and I gave it to him.")
