I supervised court-ordered probationers working off fines for $50/day on Government Property for years. Why not have a program for regular citizens? Anyone with proof of residency could register online and show up for work at a designated pick-up site. Work for about 8 hours, and get mailed (e-mailed?) a check from the State, County, City, etc. If you can't finish the work for any reason…no pay for you. Wages would at least match the wages of the Court. Wear work clothes and bring your own gloves and lunch. Don't be late!
