We The People

Our previous president got into a habit of admitting that he does not pay attention to approval ratings, and now, even the current president has a drop in his approval numbers at the time of this post, yet he also seems to be dusting it off his shoulders. While I understand that they want to stay focused on the job at hand and not be distracted by polls, shouldn't their approval ratings be a higher concern than they make it out to be? After all, we're the ones who elected (hired) them, yet in a way, they're telling us that they don't care what we think. Just doesn't seem right.

I'd like to agree, but the American democratic system was not designed for modern technology. Over a hundred years ago, by the time you figured out you didn't like somebody in office, their term was pretty close to ending anyway. Today, we expect to be able to Facebook/Twitter our disappointments and expect them pay attention. I love the idea. It would be great if we could just "vote" some bonehead out after a few months when they pull crap like ending a nine year long war by ADDING 30,000 troops to the stew. WTF?
