Q. How do idea ratings work?
Users, once signed in, can rate an idea on a scale from 1 (bad idea) to 5 (great idea) by clicking one of the lightbulbs next to the idea. The rating in the RED box represents the average rating the idea has been given by all users in total, on a scale from 1 to 5.

When determining priority in a list of ideas ordered by "best" or "worst", a Total Rating is used, which is a sum of all the ratings that idea has gotten. For example, if an idea has been rated 3 times (ratingA: 2, ratingB: 5, ratingC: 1), the average rating in the red box would be 3, while it's Total Rating would be 8. Obviously the more popular an idea is and the more it's rated, the higher up it will show up on the list when sorted by "best ideas."
When returning to an idea, a user's original rating for this idea will be highlighted. Idea ratings can be changed at any time.

Q. How do comment ratings work?
Much like ideas, comments, which can often offer insight or other witty concepts, can be rated by registered users using the same "lightbulb" scale from 1-5 as seen below. The average rating the comment has been given by all users in total is displayed in the BLUE box.

When returning to an idea comment, a user's original rating for this comment will be highlighted. Comment ratings can be changed at any time.

Q. How do user ratings work?
User ratings are determined by this calculation.
[10 points per posted idea] + [Total idea ratings by others] + [Total comment ratings by others]
For example, if user ERIC posts 2 ideas, one of which was rated once with a 4, the second of which was rated twice with a 3 and 1 respectively, his user rating would be 28.
If ERIC also made comments, one of which was rated with a 5, his user rating would jump to 33.
