Vehicle U-Turn signal
Posted 7 months ago by sarossell in Car Features | Submit idea in this category
By simply moving the turn-signal handle one more step upwards past the left-turn signal, you would activate a U-turn signal. On the rear of the car, a light next to the turn signal would indicate a U-turn symbol. That way, the coffee-schlepping, cell phone yacker behind you at the light doesn't rearrange your favorite bumper when they pile into you because they assumed you were just making a left turn. With a similar light in the front, It would also help on-coming traffic to know just how much longer you might be in front of them while performing this U-turn.

My 07 Dodge Magnum has the temp flasher. You press down on the lever, to just before it clicks into place, and the turn signal flashes about 5 or 6 times, then off.

sarossell (5 months ago): Interesting. Sounds like the BMW stale flasher feature that turns off automatically after a few too many flashes. Cool that the Dodge lets you choose that option directly.

Good idea but the only room I see for argument is that on most roads it is illegal to pull a U-bop, especially when there's double yellow lines to contend with. Along the same lines, what about a second "lane-shift" mode for your blinkers that automatically turn themselves off after a few seconds.
This would definitely cut down on drivers who don't realize their blinker is still on 10 miles after the lane shift.

sarossell (7 months ago): If I recall correctly, some high end models of BMW have the stale turn signal feature.
