Submit idea in this category
It would be great if they had car shops dedicated specifically to diagnosing your car problems. They wouldn't do any repairs, so they would give you an honest diagnosis with nothing to gain from diagnosing a larger problem. It would be fast and cheap, and give you complete control over what you want to do as far as repairs.

This would be ideal for mechanic training schools. They get the experience and you get a free diagnosis. Kind of like dental schools.

I like the idea. I guess you could do it now by asking for a diagnosis from multiple mechanics, but it might work better to separate the diagnosis entirely. You pay a flat rate for a diagnosis, and they give you a print-out to take to a mechanic (or multiple mechanics). Somebody start one!

This is sort of like in medicine where if you're seeking the best treatment for a condition. When you go to a specialist, you get a recommendation for only what the specialist does, but if you go to a doctor without a bias, like a medical oncologist if you had cancer, you get an unbiased evaluation of all the possible treatments and can make your own choice.
